Birthday Books

Awhile ago I saw some handmade perpetual birthday books while browsing the web and finally got the chance to try it out. Even though I saw ideas online, this is something I had to figure out on my own since I don't have 8 1/2 x 11 chipboard and instead I have the rectangular one. Surprisingly, it did not take me too long to figure out how to make the months in Word. I just made 2 for now ( gave them away already) to see how I like it...I think I'll be making more! :)

The cover...

One of the inside pages...

Front of 2nd cover...

Both of the covers I used Two Scoops Rice Designs stamps and the Cricut for the lettering.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I probably said this before but...
"Life is really what YOU make of it!"
If anything is "wrong" in your life, you can't blame anyone but yourself even though we tend to blame others.
It's all about knowing how to deal with things that come our way and if it's about someone's personality that you don't like, you can't take it personal and know that it's them not you.
Some things in life I will never understand but life must go on...

Have a good Friday everyone!

RAK and M&T's

Got to go to a craft gathering this past weekend...fun fun! I was thinking what to make for RAKs and realized I had a lot of Bath and Body hand santizer tha't I got from my last trip...so I decided to make a holder for it!! Luckily, I found a tutorial from here to help me out! :) It's really easy, the only problem is I have issues with find a very stick tape to hold my boxes together!! I even used the red sticky strip and they didn't stay so I had to add glue! I made a total of 10. I had some extra so I gave them to some friends. I used the embossing stencils from Taj Clubhouse to decorate the holder, 2 each of 5 animals.

Here's 3 of them close up...

And the other 2...

And the inside...

Here's all 10...

The RAKs from everyone...
one is missing though...opened the candy already.

Here's the 2 M&T's we made...
a mini purse and scallop flower!

And a thank you RAK from Jenny.

Hope you all had a wonderful President's Day weekend!

Birthday Gift Bag

Made another gift bag for a friend who's birthday was yesterday. Another friend's bday was today too! My friend loves the hedgehog from Penny Black so I used one of those. And she loves pink! I used the most recent sketch from Stamping 411 to help me out!

(I seem to always take crooked pictures! :( )
Here's a close up...

Had a fun weekend but sad time to go work tomorrow!
At least it's a 4 day week.
Hope you all had a great weekend too!

Birthday Penguins

Made another birthday card since this is the first time I'm using this stamp from The Cat's Pajamas. The penguins are so adorable! This card is pretty simple...just added stickles to the star and sprinkles and the designed corner punch. This card is for the challenge at Create4fun.

Thanks for dropping by!
Yay for a 3 day weekend...hope you all have a great one!

Happy Birthday

Got to do another challenge, today at the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. There's so many I want to participate in but there's just not enough time! :( Crafting really is therapy after a long day of work! :) I thought I'd make a card to add to my stash of birthday cards so I'm prepared!

Have a great Thursday!
I can't believe the weekend is almost here again!

Dec. and Jan. Secret Sister Swap

I know it's February already but I just wanted to share some stuff given and received for the "Secret Sister Swap" that Kris hosts every month for Dec. and Jan. There is a link to it on the top of her blog. You sign up and she assigns you a swap person to make something for/RAK and it's a secret til you receive it! So fun!

This was from my December Secret Sister, Leanne from California.
I love her TGF card and keychain she made!
She was super generous! I appreciate everything! :)

This was from my January Secret Sister.
It's supposed to be a secret til you get it, but I got it, and they did not leave a name so it's still a secret!
Someone from California, but thank you whoever you are! :)
Love the snowman candy bar holder and the piglet figurine is just too cute!

And this is what I made for my Secret Sister, Nanea from Hawaii.
I made an altered notepad and a  magnetic post-it holder.

Thanks for your visit!
Hope you're all having a great week so far! :)

Valentine's Day Treat Holders

Can't believe tomorrow is Valentine's Day already! I decided to make some Valentine's treats for my co-workers and friends this year. Surprisingly, I came up with the idea on my own!! I usually "love" to case projects! :) I made matchboxes using my Cricut. On the cover, I used the rosette die from My Favorite Things. (I love the die because it scores the lines already! :) ) Then I made two designs...one with one heart on top and the other with two. And all of them have the vday sentiment on top. I made 5 of each design. One picture only has 4 because I had to give one to my friend before I got a chance to take a pic of them!

Here is one up close...

Here is 5 of the first design...

And 4 of the second design...

Forgot to take a pic of the inside but I fit 6 Dove dark chocolate hearts.
And for one of them, I was able to fit a gift card.
I like how the turned out...just had issues with how to hold the rosette down!
I need to find the thick glue dots!

And I decorated this can for my Grandma!!
I wrapped ribbon around the handle and cut hearts using nestabilities with felt.
Just something simple...

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day! :)

Birthday Josh

A quick post to share a card I made for the challenge at Sparkle Creations! Good chance to make a boy card since the layout was simple...I was going to add a sentiment but I thought I'd leave it as is.

Glad the weekend is here...
going craft shopping tomorrow...not like I need more stuff! :(
Why is it so fun to buy craft stuff???
But to me, it can't be a bad thing if you actually use everything! :)

Have a good weekend!

Start Each Day With A "Whee"!

Time for another My Favorite Things sketch challenge! I used this image because I had it colored already and man...I had a hard time with this sketch for some reason!

Used the green cardstock and ripped it to make it look like grass!
I used a sponge dauber for the sky!
also used embossing folder too!
And the punched flower is supposed to be a sun...
I guess it turned out ok!

Yay tomorrow is finally Friday!
People in Hawaii, going to the Stamp Expo at Blaisdell??
I shouldn't, but I probably am...plus there's good deals!
Also, Cute Stuff is 25% off entire store this weekend.

Beary Valentine

Squeezed in some time to make one more Valentine's Day card. Went to Oldie But A Goodie where theme for the challenge was "Add a Heart". I used a cute stamp by Ellzybells...I'm so sad her store closed down last year! I paper pieced the bear and just colored inside his paws and ear. I also used an old sketch from Mojo Monday. I finally found my Valentine's sentiments I was lookng for earlier...they were right in my stamp box...just needs to be organized better!! Decided to leave this card without a sentiment.

Thanks for your visit!

Happy Birthday

I've been having fun doing sketch challenges lately...really helps get my cards going! I got my sketch from The Sweet Stop.

I made this card for someone who loves purple just as much as me!
I raised the balloon with dimensionals.
And used the bow easy for my bow...still getting used to using it.

I can't believe the week is going by pretty fast! Yay!
Hope you're all having a great week so far!

Mahalo...

is the sentiment I wanted to put on my card but didn't know where to put it and I figured the image would stand out better without it. I keep buying more sentiments...but when it comes to using them, I like most of my card without one. :) I went to Club Anya for a challenge.

I had this image colored awhile ago and it was funny. I remember I wanted her flowers to be the color of her hair, I wasn't thinking and started coloring her hair! That's ok, it doesn't look too bad!
Can't really tell in the pic but I used Tim Holtz distress ink on the circle nestie and outer edge.
Thanks for your visit!

Just wanted to share something my co-worker e-mailed to me and along with some other depts...

 “Life is too short...

Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can, Apologize when you should...
If not always. And let go of what you cannot change.
Have NO regrets, Life is too short to be unhappy...You have to take the good with the bad...
Smile when you're sad.
Love what you've got, And always remember what you had...
Always, always forgive, but never forget.
Learn from your mistakes, But never regret.
People change...Things go wrong...
But always remember...
Life goes on.”

My thoughts:
Sometimes we may thinks quotes like these are silly or meaningless. But at other times we actually do need to be reminded of the little things that are important and not take them for granted!
I finally realized it's never too late to just be happy with life no matter the situation...never being jealous, never wishing I had things I don't, never wanting to be someone I'm not because God made each of us different for a reason.
We are all unique in our own ways.

Dahlia Wild Sprout

Are you all enjoying the Super Bowl game? Me, I have no idea what's going on...I just spent some time making some cards! I only watched Black Eyed Peas at half time.  :) Trying super hard to use supplies I already have!...but went craft shopping yesterday!! You know it's bad when you're more excited to buy crafts than clothes! :O Well I went to Unscripted Sketches for a challenge. Something simple.

You can't tell in the picture but I put crystal lacquer on the purple flowers.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you all had a great weekend!

Birthday Gift Bags

This week went by pretty fast...yay for the weekend! Anyways, when I make gift bags I like to make use of my Cricut since I hardly make cards with it!

Here's a simple HK bag...
I like it but nothing beats the "Creat a Critter" cartridge!...no small pieces! :)

Sorry, a little blurry, but here's a close up...

I totally love how this came out!
This is with the "Create a Critter" Cartridge...
oh and the balloon is from the "Stretch your Imagination" Cartridge.
took me so long to figure out what to do!
Used eyelets and grossgrain ribbon for the straps.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
Will you be watching the Super Bowl or going out because everyone will be at home?

Sweet Wishes!

Now every week, I look forward to doing the sketch challenge at My Favorite Things! I decided to make a masculine birthday card...plus I feel the bear looks like a boy! I paper pieced his body.

It really is therapy to make cards and craft in general...I just wish there was more time in a day!

The Last of 2010

I just realized I still had a lot of things to share from 2010 and wanted to put it in one long post since it will be February 2011 in a couple hours.

This first one is a box I made for some of my co-workers during Christmas.
I put Ghirardelli chocolate squares in them.
Here's a side view...

And the front view...
I got the tutorial from here.

These are crochet flower coasters I made for my December Secret Sister Swap.
My Secret Sister was Berenice.
Kris founded the swap. Check out her blog if you want to join the fun!

Made this pocket calendar for a friend...

Made this one for myself...
I love cupcakes! :)

And this for another friend...

Made these 3 thank you cards using Two Scoops Rice Designs stamps!
So cute!
Got the sketches for the cards from here.

I made this card for a baby's 1st bday!
Love the Cricut creat a critter!

You pull the blue tab where it holds money/gift card.
I would like to give credit to the person I got the tutorial from...but looking back, I did not save it! :(

Made these 3 different cards using left over gift wrap!
I used sketches from here.
I made about 5 of each.

That's the last of my projects for the holidays 2010!
I can't believe January went by so fast!
